Immune Boosting Wellness Drink

It's cold and flu season! Stay healthy and avoid being stuck at home by trying these immunity-boosting wellness shots. Packed with nourishing ingredients, these shots are designed to give your immune system the extra support it needs. Start your day with a vibrant ginger-turmeric shot, rich in antioxidants and anti-inflammatory properties.

This recipe requires only five simple ingredients and is a breeze to prepare. Simply juice and strain the mixture. If you don’t have a juicer, you can blend all the ingredients together and then strain them. Just remember to strain it, as the texture can be quite unpleasant if left unstrained.

Wellness Drink Ingredients

Pineapple - Pineapples contain bromelain which is a enzyme with anti-inflammatory properties. It fights infections and kills bacteria. It’s a natural flu fighter. Also a great source in vitamin C.

Orange - Orange is a excellent source of vitamin C. It supports your immune system and may be effective in fighting against the common cold. You could also substitute other type of citrus like tangerines, clementines, or mandarins.

Lemon- Lemons are packed with nutrients including vitamin C, B-complex vitamins, calcium, iron, magnesium, potassium, and fiber.

Turmeric- Turmeric helps fight infections. Its anti-inflammatory qualities relieves symptoms of cold and flu.

Ginger- Ginger is a strong anti-inflammatory and antioxidant. It boost immune health.

(Optional ) Cayenne peppers: Cayenne activates your circulatory system which aids in combating cold and flu.

** This recipe is to help keep your immunity up. If you are sick with a sore throat omit the oranges and lemon because the acid can be a irritant to a sore or inflame throat.

You can customize these shots to be as spicy or fruity as you prefer. I enjoy making mine sweet with a hint of spice. If you’re new to ginger shots, I recommend not using too much ginger at first! The initial taste can be quite surprising due to its spiciness. Keep in mind, a small amount can be quite potent.

When I prepare these for my children, I like to juice a bit more pineapple or orange and mix it into their drinks to balance out the ginger's heat, making it more enjoyable for them.

Preparation

Prep all your fruits. Slice the peels off the citrus fruits and cut them into quarters. Slice the skin off the pineapples and cut them into chunks.

Wash your ginger and turmeric. You do not have to take the skin off.

How to drink

These are best when fresh so I recommend just pouring into a glass and drinking it right away.

I also pour these into a squeeze bottle and gradually take shots of these throughout the day until it’s gone.

Storing

If you don’t drink right away no problem. Store in the refrigerator for up to 25-72 hours depending on your juicer recommendation.
